We welcome new members at all times, particularly at the start of each academic term when we usually hold an open rehearsal when we start work on fresh repertoire.

We rehearse on Monday evenings from 7.30pm until 9.30pm, except public holidays, the time between our Christmas concert and New Year’s Day and the month of August. Rehearsals take place at the Christian Fellowship Building, Umberleigh.

Members are expected to attend all rehearsals. We appreciate that this is not always possible due to work and family commitments so we therefore expect singers to be at as many rehearsals as they can, with a target of at least 75% attendance, and to do sufficient work at home to keep up with the choir — this helps to avoid repetition during rehearsals and makes time to put a real ‘polish’ on the music. The rehearsals immediately prior to a concert and on the day of performance are obligatory.

We usually give three major concerts each year, one in Winkleigh just before Christmas and the two others usually being in Torrington (late March/early April) and Barnstaple (July). These concerts are well established and attract good audiences.

There is no audition but a reasonable standard of sight-reading and good tuning, a pleasant voice with the ability to blend, and a positive attitude towards creating high quality music is required. Prospective members are warmly invited to join us for a three week trial period and, if everyone's happy, membership is then confirmed.

The annual subscription (September to July inclusive at 2017-18 rate) for full membership is extremely good value at £90.00 or £30.00 for each “term” (for full time students and under 21s there is no charge for membership).
